In traditional amp lore, it was always considered "common sense" that the bigger the amp was, the better the tone was, too. A lot of that belief came from the way amps used to be designed: You had to push their volume (and their speaker) hard in order to get them to overdrive, sustain, and produce a tone that kicks.
